Practical information
Course of events
- Welcome at the Le Canoë-Kayak & Stand-up Paddle base in Vaucluse on the banks of the Rhône and completion of the contract 15 minutes before the beginning of your activity
- Equipment (your belongings can be left on site in lockers, or you can take them with you on board the SUP board in a waterproof container)
- 20-minute shuttle transfer to the start of the descent
- Briefing on safety instructions and navigation
- SUP boards launch
- Departure for an 8 km, about 1.5 hours stand up paddle descent of the Rhône river
- Arrival at the pontoon of the base to return equipment to designated areas, then end of the activity with the possibility of refreshments at the on-site refreshment bar
Activity requirements
All participants must know how to swim to take part in this activity.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the departure time.
All children must be accompanied by an adult (children under the age of 7 are accepted on the SUP board of their legal guardian).

An 8 km self-guided stand-up paddle down the Rhône awaits you along the Ile de la Barthelasse, with a unique finish under the Pont d'Avignon offering a breathtaking view of the Palais des Papes dominating the city. You will have the pleasure of enjoying a natural and peaceful setting straddling the Gard and Vaucluse departments, standing or sitting on your SUP board for one person, or 6 to 8 people if you opt for a giant paddle!
You will take a shuttle bus to the north of the Ile de la Barthelasse where you will be launched for a stand-up paddle trip down the Rhône lasting around 1.5 hours. After a briefing from the instructor who will be waiting for you at the finish point, opposite the Pont d'Avignon and its chapels of Saint-Nicolas and Saint-Bénézet, you will be able to navigate the river on your own. Once you have finished paddling down the Rhône, you will be able to relax at the base's refreshment bar and enjoy the panoramic view of the Palais des Papes and Notre Dame des Doms d'Avignon for a long time to come!
