This 2-day tour will show you all that makes Iceland such a special place: powerful waterfalls, black sand beaches, Jokulsarlon, the one and only glacier lagoon, and the dancing northern lights.
Day 1: Seljalandsfoss & Skógafoss waterfalls and Reynisfjara (the Black Sand Beach)
You will be picked up from your accommodation in Reykjavík in a comfortable minibus. You and your guide will then head towards the South Coast of Iceland, exploring the countryside along the way. The first stop is Seljalandsfoss, a waterfall that will greet you with powerful theatrics. Walk behind the falls and feel the ground tremble! Next, you will visit Skógafoss waterfall further east. Here the river Skógá tumbles down a 60-meter cliff! You will catch stunning views from a staircase alongside the gorge.
You will head further east and visit Reynisfjara, a black sand beach along the Atlantic coastline with amazing rock pillars. You will find the cliffs of Dýrhólaey peaking in the distance with puffins and dozens of other unique species nesting on top of these cliffs in the summertime from June to August.
Day 2: Glacier Hike in Skaftafell, Jökulsárlón, and Diamond Beach
Day two of the adventure kicks off with an unforgettable hike on the Skaftafell outlet glacier in Vatnajökull National Park. A highly trained glacier guide will strap you into safety equipment then take you on a hike on the ice for about an hour and a half.
The journey continues with an incredible 200-meter deep glacier lagoon. The Jökulsárlón is fed by Breiðamerkurjökull, an outlet of Europe’s largest glacier.
Saving the best for last, you will discover the diamond beach full of small ice rocks in all shapes and sizes resembling sparkling diamonds in the daylight.
