About the activity

Jondal is a picturesque village located in the Hardanger region of western Norway, situated at the end of the Jondalsfjord. The Juklavass Glacier is an incredible glacier located in the Jondal region. Hiking on the Juklavass Glacier allows participants to experience breathtaking panoramic views and icy landscapes.

The glacier hike to Juklavass Glacier begins at the starting point at Fonna Glacier Ski Resort, where you'll meet your experienced guide. They will provide all of the equipment for glacier hiking (mountain boots, crampons, ice axes, harnesses, helms, and ropes). The difficulty of the hike can be adjusted based on the group's abilities and the weather conditions. After a quick safety briefing and instructions on how to use the equipment, the glacier hiking adventure on Juklavass Glacier begins! The glacier hike covers around 5 to 6 km in total walking distance, with an elevation gain of 300–400 meters.

Following the guide's instructions, you'll climb on the glacier and discover its stunning natural beauty. The glacier features mesmerising blue ice formations and rugged terrain, contributing to the dramatic and picturesque scenery of the Hardangerfjord area. Juklavass Glacier has both flat ice and more challenging crevasses, and the guide will adapt the tour depending on your preferences. Safety is always the top priority, and the team works diligently to minimize risks while allowing you to fully immerse yourself in this spectacular natural environment.

When you reach the top of the glacier, you'll stop for a lunch break and enjoy the incredible panoramic vistas of the North Sea and the Rosendal Alps. The guide will share insights about the glacier's culture, physical geography and climate. Then, you'll hike back to the starting point at the Fonna Glacier Ski Resort.

Love them!
