What are the activities to do in Bagnères-de-Luchon?
Bagnères-de-Luchon commonly known as Luchon is a French city located in the province of Haute-Garonne. Situated ideally in the heart of the mid-Pyrenees where the Luchonnais Mountains meets with the Spain boarder.
The town was popular amongst high society in the 18th century, hosting personalities like Richelieu, Napoleon II and Alexandre Dumas. Delighting visitors ever since with its elegant ‘Belle Epoque’ architecture, winning over the name of ‘The Queen of the Pyrenees’.
Thanks to the idyllic location of Luchon, during the winter you can take the 8-minute lift up to the centre of Superbagnéres Ski Resort. Here you can discover endless off-piste slopes surrounded by views of the 13 most famous peaks, including the highest one: Aneto (3,404m) and then relax in the natural thermal baths.
The city is famous for having a chain of underground natural thermal baths known as 'The Vaporium'. The water of this natural steam baths comes from the mountains, which filters through the rock walls and releasing steam at temperatures that go from 38°C and 40°C with natural hot spring pools of 30°C.
Luchon is an energetic holiday destination, where you can trek to the highest peaks of the Pyrenees, or enjoy of white-water sports in the channels that flow through the mountains. Mountain bike enthusiasts can ride downhill some of the most challenging tracks of the area.
