The island is built around one of the most active volcanoes in the world, the Piton de la Fournaise. Last but not least Reunion is proud of housing some of the rarest species in wildlife, the white-tailed tropicbird, the panther chameleon and the Hawksbill sea turtle just to name a few.

In 2010 Reunion added another coup to its long list of achievements, the island’s volcanic peaks, cirques and ramparts were classified as part of the World Heritage by UNESCO.
