Have extreme fun practicing canyoning, kitesurfing and caving in Reunion Island!
Sitting in the heart of the Indian Ocean, Reunion Island evokes images of beautiful landscapes, exotic surroundings and seductive white sand beaches. The island is an eclectic yet harmonious contrast between the rugged volcano ideal for trekking and caving, flourishing greenery ideal for hiking and paragliding and, the transparent blue tinged water of the ocean ideal for surfing and parasailing. The Reunionese nature is a true reflection of the rich and diverse culture of the local population.
The island is built around one of the most active volcanoes in the world, the Piton de la Fournaise. The lava flows, mountains passes, craters and cirque simply add to the somewhat savage but impressive beauty of the island. The varied landscape of Reunion has become a paradise for extreme sport thrill seekers, who can enjoy a multitude of (at least 10) extreme sports without ever leaving the comfort of the island.
The canyons are essential to the backdrop of the breath-taking scenery. An integral part of Reunion; if you go sightseeing then you absolutely must engage in one of the famous canyoning itineraries, with a wide variety accessible to all age ranges and fitness levels. Or you could enjoy a bird's eye view by opting for a skydiving or paragliding flight, two local specialities that enable you to enjoy both the rugged interior of the island, as well as the beach-covered outer part with its white sand and blue waters.
Last but not least Reunion is proud of housing some of the rarest species in wildlife, the white-tailed tropicbird, the panther chameleon and the Hawksbill sea turtle just to name a few.
In 2010 Reunion added another coup to its long list of achievements, the island’s volcanic peaks, cirques and ramparts were classified as part of the World Heritage by UNESCO.
