What are the activities to do in Corte?

Corte is the best spot for hiking, canyoning and rock climbing. It is located in the centre of Corsica, only 68km south of Bastia and 80km north of Ajaccio, the 2 biggest cities of the island. It is the cultural and historical town of the island which hosts the museum of Corsica.

If you want to know more about the history and traditions of Corsica, go visit the National Museum of Anthropology on the top of Corte citadel. The citadel was built around a castle of the 15th century at the top of a rock that overlooks the town. It is also part of the Cultural Route of the Council of Europe because it tracks the history of the French Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte.

About Verghellu Canyon near Corte.
We went Canyoning at Pont Verghellu with Antoine. The hike up is a bit challenging, and especially in a bathing suit (no shorts possible, only bathing suit allowed on hike up). Descent is in wetsuit and helmet. The descent is challenging as the boulders are slippery and difficult to see under the water. However, it was really amazing. Lots of high jumps, toboggan (slide down rocks) and a zip line possibility at the end. I am definitely sore today. Would not recommend for anyone with any joint issues as the ankles/knees and hips will get extra work strain. Renting shoes from them is ESSENTIAL, as we went in sneakers and they were too slippery, no ankle support. Beautiful day!

Nature, adrenaline, once in a lifetime. Take good time driving up and eat lunch in the beautiful villages on the way. Canyoning is so much fun and the whole family loved it.
