Set off on a guided packrafting excursion along the Zrmanja River from Kaštel Žegarski, exploring 12 kilometers of crystal-clear waters, canyon cliffs, and cascading waterfalls. This stretch of the Zrmanja is known for its untouched nature and dramatic landscape, offering a slower-paced and immersive experience ideal for those who want to connect deeply with one of Croatia’s most scenic inland rivers.
The tour begins at the base in Kaštel Žegarski, where you’ll meet your guide and receive all necessary packrafting equipment including a one-person boat, paddle, helmet, lifejacket, neoprene gear, and a waterproof barrel for your picnic or valuables. After a safety briefing and gearing up, time for the adventure!
Over the course of 3.5 hours on the river, you’ll navigate around 20 gentle rapids rated class II and one more dynamic class III rapid, with your guide adjusting the pace to match the group’s abilities. A 10-meter waterfall midway through the descent is a scenic highlight, where you’ll take a short 3-minute walk around to view it safely. Near the end of the packrafting route, you’ll reach a 3-meter waterfall. For safety reasons, only one person at a time can descend it in a boat, while the second person in the pair walks around the drop, accompanied by the guide.
Throughout the packrafting tour, you’ll enjoy stops to swim in the Zrmanja River’s gradually warming waters, which range from 15°C at the start to around 22°C by the end. A dedicated break gives you time to relax and enjoy a picnic brought from home, safely stored in your dry barrel. The route winds through stunning river bends, revealing waterfalls in one of Croatia’s most preserved natural settings.
With group sizes limited to 8 participants and one guide per group, you’ll enjoy a relaxed pace and personalized guidance throughout your Zrmanja River packrafting journey. Free parking is available at the base, along with toilets. You can store valuables in lockable black boxes, which are transported to the end of the route for you or, if you prefer, carry them in your boat’s waterproof barrel.
This Zrmanja River packrafting tour is suitable for adventurous guests, offering the perfect combination of exploration, tranquility, and light adrenaline in one of Croatia’s most scenic river canyons. At the end of the activity, a van transfer returns you to the starting point, wrapping up a memorable day on the water.
