Nice Old Town, Local Cuisine and Stunning Architecture –

This destination’s Old Town is a feast for the senses, offering visitors views of colourful red tile-roofed buildings, mazes of passageways to stroll around, smells of fresh pastries from local, and the Mediterranean sun on your skin. For great local cuisine, fresh seafood and independent boutiques and gift shops, the Old Town is the place to visit, with a large number of them hidden away within its maze of streets. A great way to get your bearings of this area is to see it from above by hiking up Castle Hill, in the east of the city – a location with a great family-friendly park with gorgeous panoramic views.

Nice’s beautiful 17th century baroque Cathedral, also near the Old Town area, and Massena Square – a stunning large public square with a multitude of colourful buildings, close to this, are popular spots to visit. The Fontaine du Soleil, an incredible fountain at the heart of the Massena Square, with a 7 metre high white marble statue of the Greek god Apollo at the centre, is another well-visited landmark.

This palm-lined seafront walkway is the perfect spot to sit on a restaurant terrace and try a Salade Niçoise, for an enjoyable interlude between outdoor sports and adventure activities.

Head over Castle Hill to the Nice Port area of the city, for another charming area for a peaceful stroll in the sun, with yachts and boats of all sizes docked on the stunning blue waters to look at as you wander.
