Rising in the Cirque de Gavarnie, the Gave de Pau is a tributary of the Adour River. It then joins the Gave d’Oloron to form the “Gaves Réunis” near Peyrehorade. However, it is in Villelongue, in the Hautes-Pyrénées and just a 10-minute drive from Argelès-Gazost, that the Tom Rafting team awaits to take you on a rafting bivouac experience.
A true escape into the wild landscapes of the Pyrenees, this rafting and bivouac excursion on the Gave de Pau offers a unique opportunity to explore the river between Villelongue and Lestelle whilst spending a night under the stars. The experience kicks off with 2 hours of rafting to get you into the swing of things. As the day draws to a close, you'll set up camp with your guide and sit down to a delicious Pyrenean raclette around a campfire. After sharing a convivial evening with your group, you'll settle into your hammock or tent and drift off to sleep, gently lulled by the sounds of nature.
The following morning, you'll enjoy a home-made breakfast before resuming your rafting adventure on the Gave de Pau. Throughout the day, breathtaking scenery unfolds around you as you navigate the river's rapids. Drawing on your guide's wealth of local knowledge, you'll discover the region from a whole new perspective — getting to know the flora and fauna of the Pyrenees whilst honing your whitewater navigation skills and learning a few techniques specific to nautical bivouacking.
Covering 40 km in total, this Gave de Pau rafting and bivouac descent is the perfect way to make the most of the rafting experience and spend as much time as possible in the great outdoors. Book today and enjoy a complete change of scenery just 20 minutes from Lourdes and Cauterets!
