Join us for a canyoning descent in the Valcarlos Canyon, lasting a total of 2½ hours, in the heart of the Basque Country.
- An introductory course that focuses on the fun and water-based aspects of the sport, perfect for beginners and families.
- Optional jumps of between 2 and 6 metres into deep pools, and no abseiling.
- A group session led by a team of professional instructors.
Course of events
Please allow 2 hours and 30 minutes on site for the whole experience.
- Arrival at the meeting point building, welcome by the team of instructors and completion of administrative formalities
- Introduction to the activity and fitting of the equipment (thick full-body neoprene wetsuit, helmet and suitable canyoning shoes)
- A comprehensive briefing on white-water navigation techniques and safety guidelines
- Logistics shuttle by vehicle to the start of the canyon
- A 15-minute walk along the riverbank to reach the launch site
- A descent through the Valcarlos canyon, alternating between floating, breaststroke, slaloming between the rocks and optional jumps (2 to 6 metres)
- End of the descent, packing up and shuttle back to base
- Return to the original meeting point and end of the activity

You must be able to swim to take part in this activity.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Pets are not permitted to take part in this activity.
It is essential that all passengers in the vehicles – whether or not they are taking part in the activity – carry a valid original identity document (passport or identity card, photocopies are not valid) as Spanish customs carry out frequent checks at this border crossing.
Minors not accompanied by their legal guardian must present their original, up-to-date identity document, an Authorisation to Leave the Country (AST: CERFA) signed by their legal guardian, and a photocopy of the identity document of the person who signed the CERFA form.
In the event of non-compliance with customs regulations that prevents access to the site, no refund will be made.

For the descent of the Valcarlos canyon, near Bayonne, Anglet and Biarritz, you'll be equipped with a wetsuit, helmet, harness and a pair of canyoning shoes. With its Basque name of Luzaide, this Pyrenean canyon will reveal all its secrets with the help of your instructor, who is passionate about the region. Once you've put on your equipment and memorised the safety instructions, you'll set off to conquer the Valcarlos canyon, for a 3-hour canyoning experience.
Alone, with family or friends, the Valcarlos canyon descent is the ideal way to discover canyoning in the Pyrenees... you can learn to do it easily and without too much effort thanks to the "aquatic course" option, or discover the classic canyoning obstacles with the "rope course" option.
