About the activity

Every year, from July to November, humpback whales travel from Antarctica to the warm waters of the South Pacific to breed. This migration period is the perfect time to observe them up close around the Polynesian islands and, weather permitting, even get into the water with them.

To experience this unique adventure for yourself, the professional team at Moorea Activities Center invites you to join their whale-watching excursion in Moorea. Aboard a boat, you will set off from Moorea in search of these magnificent creatures for a four-hour trip, accompanied by a professional guide who will share their knowledge about whales. If conditions allow, you may even have the opportunity to enter the water for a snorkeling session with the whales.

Of course, these are wild animals, and sightings cannot be guaranteed, but every effort will be made to help you encounter them and to observe the incredible marine life and ecosystems of the Polynesian ocean. And even if the whales do not appear, you may spot other animals such as dolphins, turtles, leopard rays, stingrays, or blacktip reef sharks! Whatever happens, you will enjoy stunning scenery and finish the experience with new insights into marine life.

Our guide Jim was amazing. He told us so much about the whales and their behavior, life, migration. What to do and what not to do. What mammals and fish we can encounter and how to act with them.

C'était une activité incroyable, nous sommes partie à la recherche des baleines à bosse et avons eu le chance de croiser des dauphins long bec à la sortie du lagon, une baleine et son baleineau après 40 minutes de navigation et avons même nous mettre à l'eau avec une baleine chanteuse de plus de 15 mètres ! Nous en avions plein les yeux et pensions avoir finis la sortie mais l'équipe de Moorea Activities Center nous ont réservé une surprise en faisant un détour pour nous emmener nager avec des tortues marines et des raies aigle dans le lagon de Moorea ! Merci encore !!!

C'était une journée incroyable !! Pleine de Moments merveilleux, d'instants d'écoute et de partage. Il n'y a pas eu que l'observation 😉il y a eu aussi de l'instruction sur les baleines ! Énormément de choses intéressantes apprises aujourd'hui... Je ne mettrais plus un pied dans la Mer sans penser à aujourd'hui !! Merci à Louis et son équipage !
