Kos is a beautiful island, part of the Dodecanese Greek islands in the Aegean Sea. On this boat trip from Kos, you'll visit Nisyros, a small, volcanic island located just south of the island. Nisyros is known for its active volcano and Stefanos Crater, a massive, walkable volcanic crater with steaming fumaroles.

The adventure begins by meeting directly at the port, or with pick-up from your accommodation in Kos (please specify when booking). Upon arrival, you'll board the comfortable boat and receive a quick safety briefing. Then, your boat cruise to Nisyros begins! You'll set sail across the blue waters of the Aegean Sea, enjoying mesmerising views along the way. After a scenic journey of about 40 minutes, you'll arrive at the volcanic island of Nisyros.

At Nisyros, you'll disembark the boat and travel to the mighty Polyvotis Volcano in a bus with an experienced guide. Upon arrival at the volcano, you'll embark on an immersive tour and discover the captivating landscapes. Polyvotis is one of the youngest and only still active volcanoes in Greece, with its most famous crater, Stefanos, being among the largest hydrothermal craters in the world. You'll walk along the 300 m (984 ft) diameter crater and learn about its fascinating volcanic activity, discovering fumaroles, boiling mud pools, and volcanic ash deposits.

On the other side of the volcano, you'll explore the island's authentic villages, with typical whitewashed houses, blooming flowers, old cafés, cliffside chapels and cobblestone squares. In the village, you can indulge in local delicacies, such as traditional soumada (almond juice). You'll also visit the historic Monastery of Panagia Spiliani, which sits atop the main town of Mandraki. The monastery boasts a renowned ecclesiastical museum and offers breathtaking views of Mandraki and the Aegean Sea. Afterwards, you'll be transferred back to the port for your return boat cruise to Kos.
