About the activity

Embark on an incredible Greek adventure as you sail along Nea Kameni, Palea Kameni, Thirassia, and explore their stunning volcanic landscapes and turquoise waters on this amazing volcanic boat cruise around Santorini's Caldera!

The Greek island group of Santorini, as we know it today, was formed by subsequent volcanic eruptions in the Aegean Sea, the latest of which happened about 3,600 years ago, when the Minoan civilization lived on the island. Thanks to this, Santorini, Nea Kameni, Palea Kameni, and Thirassia are incredibly interesting islands with volcanic sightings worth visiting.

On the day of your volcanic boat cruise around Santorini's Caldera, you'll need to arrive at the meeting point in the Athinios port at least 30 minutes before your departure time. There, you'll meet the knowledgeable captain and crew that will accompany you throughout the journey. Once you're settled on the incredible, traditional Greek Caique boat that will be waiting for you, it's time to go!

You'll have two options when you book your volcanic boat cruise around Santorini's Caldera: a 3-hour and a 6-hour journey. During both, you'll start by anchoring at Nea Kameni, the site of an active volcano! You'll disembark and, if you're daring enough, you can go on a self-guided hike up to the volcano's crater. If not, you can enjoy the crystal clear waters from shore. Once everyone is back on the boat, you'll head to Palea Kameni, which is known for its sulfur-rich, therapeutic hot springs, and you'll get a 30-minute break to bathe and enjoy this incredible wonder.

This will be the end of the 3-hour adventure, and you'll head back to the Santorini port to finish your day. However, if you chose the 6-hour option, you'll continue your volcanic boat cruise around Santorini's Caldera towards Thirassia, the second biggest island in the archipelago. There, you can visit picturesque villages or bathe in stunning beaches, as well as have a typical Greek lunch in a traditional taverna (at your own expense), or take a hike. You'll be free to do what you wish until it's time to reembark and head back to Santorini.

Don't forget to bring your swimsuit (preferably dark-colored to avoid discoloring with the hot springs), towel, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and anything else you might need (medications, snacks, etc.) to spend a wonderful 3 or 6 hours at sea on your volcanic boat cruise around Santorini's Caldera!

Don't miss your chance to discover a different side of the Greek Cycladic Islands and book your volcanic boat cruise around Santorini's Caldera today! You won't regret it.
