Hawaiʻi is a remarkable archipelago in the central Pacific Ocean, part of the United States, which consists of 8 main islands. Hawaiʻi Island, often called the Big Island, is the largest and youngest of the Hawaiian Islands. On this sightseeing tour of Hawaiʻi Island, you'll discover some incredible geological features, such as volcanic craters, beautiful waterfalls, and lush rainforests!

The adventure begins with pick-up from your chosen location in Hawaiʻi Island (please specify when booking). An experienced tour guide will pick you up in a comfortable air-conditioned van. After a quick welcome briefing and itinerary overview, your sightseeing trip to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park begins!

You'll start by driving on Saddle Road, which offers mesmerising views of the island's diverse landscapes. Along the way, you'll spot two majestic volcanoes - Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. You'll make a quick stop at Pe'epe'e Falls (Boiling Pots) and admire the stunning multi-tiered waterfall cascading into deep pools, surrounded by lava rocks and lush vegetation.

Then, you'll travel to the Wailuku River and admire the iconic Rainbow Falls, a 24-metre (80-foot) waterfall plunging over a lava cave. The guide will share insights about the significant Battle of Wailuku that took place in this area, an important moment in Hawaiian history.

Afterwards, you'll make your way along Banyan Drive in Hilo, a scenic, waterfront road lined with massive banyan trees, planted by famous figures like Amelia Earhart and Babe Ruth. Finally, you'll arrive at the renowned Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park, one of the most geologically active places on Earth, home to two of the world's most famous volcanoes - Kīlauea and Mauna Loa.

You'll embark on a guided tour of Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park and explore its dramatic volcanic landscapes. Throughout the tour, you'll experience scenic views of Kilauea Caldera, geothermal steam vents, and the impressive Puhimau Pit Crater. Then, you'll park at Thurston Lava Tube for a short 1-mile (1.6 km) round trip walk along the moderately easy trail to Nāhuku. The trail winds through a lush rainforest, where you may encounter native birds and unique plants.

Then, you'll travel just outside of the park to enjoy a delicious lunch in a secret, serene location. After lunch, you'll visit the Lava Tree Molds State Park, where you can discover fossilised lava tree moulds formed when a lava flow engulfed an ancient forest, leaving behind hollow lava casts of tree trunks. The Big Island sightseeing tour continues to Punalu'u Black Sand Beach on the southern coast. This jet-black sand beach is an amazing spot where Hawaiian green sea turtles (honu) are frequently spotted basking onshore. You'll relax on the beach and dip your toes in the warm ocean water.

The last stop on the tour is at a renowned coffee farm in the Ka'u region. You'll learn about the meticulous process of coffee cultivation and sample some of Hawaii's finest coffee. The day concludes with a breathtaking return drive, passing by the southernmost point in the United States. As the sun begins to set, you'll admire the glowing colours over the horizon. Then, you'll be dropped back at your starting point in Hawaiʻi Island.

Immerse yourself in the enchanting natural beauty, fascinating history, and rich culture of Hawaiʻi on this full-day sightseeing tour to Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park and more otherwordly destinations!
