Upon arrival at the glacier base, you'll receive the equipment (overalls, balaclava and helmet) and get set up on the snowmobile. You can either share the vehicle between two, with one driver and one passenger, or ride as a solo driver. No previous experience is required, the guide will go through a safety briefing and driving instructions.

Then, the snowmobiling on Mýrdalsjökull Glacier begins! Following the guide, you'll set off driving along the icy landscapes of this magnificent glacier. Mýrdalsjökull sits atop Katla, one of Iceland's most powerful and active subglacial volcanoes. It is the fourth-largest glacier in the country, covering a distance of 595 square kilometres. Course of events

- Please arrive at the starting point in Vík 30 minutes before the activity start time

- Meet the guide

- Drive in a glacier truck to the base at Mýrdalsjökull Glacier

- Receive the equipment (overalls, balaclava, helmet)

- Safety briefing and driving instructions

- The snowmobiling adventure begins!

- Drive on Mýrdalsjökull Glacier (approximately 1 hour)

- Return to the glacier base

- Return drive to the original starting point in Vík

Activity requirements

Snowmobile drivers must be at least 17 years old and hold a valid car driver's license. Please bring the physical copy with you on the day of the activity.

Children or those without a licence will ride on the vehicle as a passenger.

Special terms

For this tour, you can choose to share the snowmobile between two participants, with one driver and one participant and the chance to switch during the excursion, or drive as a single rider (mandatory for groups with odd numbers).
