Come hiking to Pico do Areeiro and enjoy the sunrise on one of Madeira's highest peaks.

Madeira has several of the highest peaks in Portugal, most of them located in the centre of the island. For example, 40 minutes from Funchal and close to the rocky municipality of Santana is Pico Ruivo, the highest point on the island (1862 m). Pico das Torres (1851 m) is the second highest peak of Madeira, accessible via the road connecting the Pico do Areeiro with the Pico Ruivo. Finally, the Pico do Areeiro (1862 m), the third highest peak on the island, belongs to Funchal and is one of the easiest peaks to climb. It has a unique view thanks to its viewpoint. Due to its high altitude, when the winter is colder than usual, the peak is covered by a blanket of snow. This is an unusual phenomenon, as the climate in Madeira is warm. Thanks to Overland Madeira you can do a guided hike to discover these three places.

The instructor will pick you up at 6am to take you to Pico do Areeiro. There you will experience one of the sunrises you will remember for the rest of your life and enjoy the sensation of being above the clouds. The hike lasts approximately 4 hours, which may vary depending on the time you spend admiring the landscapes you discover. You will be able to contemplate the diversity of the island's terrain and its beauty will captivate you. After Pico do Areeiro the itinerary continues to Pico Das Torres where you will find ascents and descents through its valleys thanks to its changes in altitude. Finally, you will reach Pico Ruivo through the plateau of Paul da Serra, a mountainous area with breathtaking landscapes. The return to your accommodation will be by car so you can enjoy a safe and quiet trip where you will be able to observe the entire route.

Experience the serenity and tranquillity as you immerse yourself in this hiking route through Madeira's highest peaks to enjoy beautiful views of the sunrise.
