From November to January, shoals of herring migrate through the waters of the northern Norwegian fjords, bringing with them the spectacular humpback whales that feed on them. This makes it an ideal time for whale watching from Skjervøy, a small island on the edge of the Kvænangen Fjord, from where several boat tours depart, including this one organised by Dervola Adventure. Accompanied by a professional skipper who is passionate about the creatures inhabiting the surrounding fjords, you will head out for around 4 hours on the water in search of cetaceans around Skjervøy, exploring the areas most frequented by these animals. From humpback whales and orcas to fin whales, the species you may encounter are truly remarkable!
To ensure a comfortable outing at sea, you will board a small rigid motorboat designed to accommodate up to 6 passengers (excluding the skipper), equipped with seats inside its cabin and plenty of space outside to give you a front-row view of the excursion. Once cetaceans are spotted, your guide will switch off the engine so as not to disturb them, keeping the required safety distance that allows you to fully enjoy the experience. Get your camera ready and savour these magical moments set against a stunning backdrop of sea and mountains in the heart of the Arctic winter!
Located in the northern part of Troms county, the island of Skjervøy is sure to enchant you with its authenticity and its magnificent scenery overlooking the Kvænangen Fjord. So make sure to stop by, especially this winter, to enjoy this whale watching excursion from Skjervøy, perfect for families, couples, and groups of friends alike!
