Embark on an incredible adventure as you sail over the Norwegian Sea in search of the earth's largest mammals on this wonderful winter whale-watching safari from Skjervøy! Skjervøy is a small village located on the island of Skjervøya, along the Kvaenangen fjord and near Tromsø. This Arctic village is the perfect place to go whale watching during the winter months, since the icy fjords around it fill up with humpback whales and orcas as they follow the great herring migration.
On the day of your whale-watching safari from Skjervøy, you'll need to arrive at the meeting point in Skjervøy Harbour and meet your crew. They'll lead you to the historic Hagbart Waage, a former Norwegian rescue ship, which has been repurposed to take you out into the sea to look for whales! The crew will explain a few safety recommendations and inform you of the itinerary for the day before you set off.
Then it's off to Arctic waters and snow-covered mountains! You'll spend 2 to 3 hours on this whale-watching adventure from Skjervøy, scouring the Norwegian Sea and its fjords in search of the magnificent orcas and humpback whales that pass through there, with the help of the expertise of your crew. You'll have some coffee or tea and biscuits in the heated cabin of the boat, then be able to go out onto the open viewing deck to appreciate the stunning landscapes, and if you're lucky, observe some whales.
You should keep in mind that this winter whale-watching safari from Skjervøy can't guarantee whale spotting, since the whales are in their natural environment and not in an aquarium. However, with the crew's long experience and expert knowledge of the area, the chance of seeing some whales is very high! And, in the case that you don't see any whales, your instructor offers a 'Whale Pass' with every reservation, which allows you to rebook a tour within the first 12 months of your experience, completely free of charge!
All you need to do for your experience is bring some very warm winter clothing, including thermal underlayers and wind and waterproof outer layers, a hat, gloves, a scarf, and anything else you might need (motion sickness medication, water, etc.) to spend a few hours exploring the incredible Norwegian Sea.
Don't miss your chance to observe Arctic landscapes and spot the world's largest mammal in the wild. Book your winter whale-watching safari from Skjervøy today!
