This full-day excursion departs from Stavanger, a charming coastal city in southwestern Norway. It is situated close to spectacular natural scenery, including fjords, waterfalls, and mountains. On this hiking and via ferrata trip from Stavanger, you'll visit Månafossen Waterfall and Gloppedalsura Boulder Field.

The tour begins with pick-up from your listed accommodation in Stavanger (please specify your location when booking). After meeting your experienced guide, you'll embark on a scenic drive along the beautiful Frafjord in Rogaland County. Then, you'll arrive at the hike departure point and go through a quick safety briefing. Once everyone is prepared, the hike to Månafossen begins. Månafossen is the tallest waterfall in the region and one of the most impressive in Norway!

The trek to the waterfall involves a short but steep ascent, passing towering cliffs and rugged wilderness. The secluded waterfall is only accessible by this hike, you cannot reach it from the road. After admiring the powerful cascading waterfall, you'll drive to Byrkedalstunet, a historic dairy farm that has been converted into a hotel and restaurant. You'll enjoy a tasty 2-course lunch and visit the Gift Shop and Candle Factory, where you can purchase homemade candles and souvenirs. Byrkedalstunet is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region, offering a glimpse into Norwegian culture and history.

After your visit to Byrkedalstunet, you'll drive to the UNESCO Geopark and arrive at Gloppedalsura, the largest boulder field in Northern Europe. It consists of massive boulders, some the size of houses, which were deposited over an ancient glacial moraine. You'll learn about its historical significance during World War II, when Norwegian soldiers used Gloppedalsura as a natural fortress against advancing German forces. Then, it's time to via ferrata at the Gloppedalsura Boulder Field!

Following a safety briefing and instructions, you'll receive the via ferrata equipment, including a helmet, ropes, and harnesses. With the guidance of the expert instructor, you'll navigate the majestic cliffs and boulders - the ultimate natural escape room! The area’s huge boulders, steep cliffs, and rugged rock formations make it a great spot for scrambling and climbing. Afterwards, the guide will drive you back to the starting point in Stavanger.
