Join ACE Adventures for a full day of Grade 4 white water rafting on the River Findhorn in Scotland, cliff jumping included!
The amber-tinted waters of the River Findhorn carve through ancient red-sandstone walls, sending a roaring mist into the Highland air as your raft readies for descent. Sweeping past native Scottish woodlands, local game estates, and towering gorges, this wilderness run offers the most thrilling river journey in the United Kingdom. The River Findhorn is one of the last main rivers completely untouched by man in Scotland, serving as a pristine sanctuary for local wildlife where lucky adventurers frequently spot red and roe deer, ospreys, salmon, otters, and red squirrels.
Your whitewater expedition picks up pace rapidly as you plunge into the spectacular Lower Findhorn Gorge, a challenging, world-class river segment run exclusively by the expert team at ACE. You will learn to work in unison with your crew, paddling hard through rolling wave trains, sudden drops, and roaring waterfalls separated by tranquil, calm pools that allow you to rest and absorb the farmlands. In the heart of the gorge, a memorable mid-way break takes you out of the raft and onto the ancient cliffs for an optional cliff jumping session, featuring ledges ranging from 5 to 30 feet above the deep river pools. Every rapid is closely monitored by International Rafting Federation (IRF) trained and qualified guides who tailor the craft and techniques to the specific river levels of the day.
This rafting experience is designed to welcome both bold beginners and seasoned paddlers, requiring no prior rafting experience as long as you can comfortably walk a single kilometer on uneven terrain. The specialized activity base enhances your comfort before and after the river run, with fully heated changing rooms, a warm reception area, and a dedicated gear room. All essential white water equipment is provided, including heavy-duty helmets, life jackets, and thick, clean wetsuits paired with protective booties to ensure you remain completely warm throughout the journey. Families with younger children can also join the excitement, as the larger, technical rapids can easily be bypassed on foot along the riverbanks.
