The cliffs of Sopelana, 30 minutes from Bilbao, are one of the most popular and interesting paragliding sites not only in Spain but in all of Europe. The weather conditions there couldn't be better - the wind currents coming from the Bay of Biscay rise up on the beaches as they crash into the cliffs, creating amazing thermal currents that paragliders love!

You will take off over the Barinatxe beach, also known as La Salvaje. The standard flight will last for 20 min., depending on the weather conditions, and will be a mixture of excitement and peacefulness as you get an amazing perspective of the Cantabric coast, its beaches, the charming towns of the Basque Country, and the Bay of Biscay.

I am very happy that I booked this activity. It was something I had never done before. I do think it would have been more fun if we explored a bit more of the coast. Now we just flew forth and back on the same spot for 40 minutes, which got a bit boring after some time.
