About the activity

Climb high above the dramatic landscapes of northern Spain with this via ferrata adventure in La Hermida, one of the most iconic routes in the Picos de Europa National Park. Combining adrenaline and breathtaking scenery, this vertical course offers an unforgettable introduction to via ferrata, where you’ll climb, balance, and traverse your way through rugged terrain with the help of fixed cables, ladders, and iron rungs.

Located at the gateway to Picos de Europa, the Via Ferrata Los Puentes in La Hermida rises up to 800 metres above sea level and covers a total elevation gain of 450 metres. This 3 to 5-hour route is rated medium difficulty and is suitable for beginners, offering a safe and exhilarating challenge even for those with no prior climbing experience. Along the way, you’ll cross two spectacular bridges – including a 35-metre-long Tibetan bridge and a 100-metre plank bridge – suspended high above the gorge.

Your adventure begins at the activity base, where you'll meet your certified instructor and receive a full safety briefing along with all necessary equipment. The course is divided into three distinct sections, starting with a 95-metre K2 climb to warm up. The second section is the most technical, covering 700 metres at K3–K4 difficulty, with some exposed passages and the iconic bridges. The final stretch, rated K3, leads to the Ciloña Cave and marks the end of this vertical journey through one of Spain’s most scenic natural parks.

No rope or climbing skills are needed for this via ferrata in La Hermida. Just bring comfortable sportswear, sturdy shoes with good grip, and climbing gloves if you have them. Once the circuit is complete, you’ll return to the base, having experienced one of the best via ferrata routes in the Picos de Europa.
Set off on the Via Ferrata Los Puentes in La Hermida, nestled in the stunning Picos de Europa National Park, where an unforgettable vertical adventure awaits!
