Full-day Kayaking Sea Trip to Bassholmen Island in Bohuslän

Bohuslän is a charming coastal region situated in Western Sweden. It is home to an iconic archipelago, which features deep blue waters, rocky islands and quaint fishing villages. Kayaking is an ideal way to explore this scenic destination!

The full-day trip begins by meeting your experienced guide at the starting point in the small town of Uddevalla, located in Bohuslän. The guide will provide all of the equipment (sea kayak, paddle, cockpit cover and life jacket). Please ensure that you wear appropriate comfortable clothing (quick-drying synthetic or woollen shirt, bathing trunks, and wind jacket) and shoes (water-resistant sandals, neoprene shoes or Crocs) for paddling. No prior kayaking experience is necessary!

From the starting point, you’ll set off to Havstensfjord, a beautiful fjord that is part of the Bohuslän archipelago. The guide will start with a safety briefing and paddling instructions, before you set off gliding across the calm waters. Here, the salty sea meanders its way between leafy islands and nature reserves, from the Fjord of Gullmarn to the Koljöfjord. Following the guide, you’ll pass along skerries, islets and narrow passages, before reaching the idyllic island of Bassholmen.

Bassholmen is relatively uninhabited, with only a few scattered cottages and summer houses. The island is known for its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere, it is covered with forests, rocky outcrops, and meadows. It is also home to bird sanctuaries and summer grazing animals that you may spot. You’ll take a break here to stretch your legs and explore the island’s historic buildings. At the end of the excursion, you’ll return to the starting point in Uddevalla.
