If you are a nature lover, an avid hiker, or simply someone looking to enjoy the wonders of the Arctic landscapes in Swedish Lapland, this Northern Lights snowshoeing excursion with dinner in Brändön, near Luleå, is the perfect option for you! Located in eastern Swedish Lapland, bordering the Bothnian Sea and facing western Finland, Brändön is a small locality within the Arctic Circle. Only 35 minutes from Luleå, this incredible off-the-grid town is perfect for observing the beautiful aurora borealis, thanks to its wild and untouched surroundings, which take you away from light pollution and allow you to observe the sky, and if you're lucky, the Northern Lights, in all their glory.
On the day of your snowshoeing excursion in Brändön, near Luleå, you'll need to arrive at the Brändön Lodge at least 30 minutes before the start of the experience (you'll find free parking on-site, or you can contact your instructor for pick-up options in Luleå). There, you'll meet your instructor, who will welcome you to the lodge and explain the itinerary for the night, as well as a few safety rules to follow to have a good time. Finally, they will distribute the snowshoes, thermal suits, boots, socks, hats, gloves, and fleeces so you can put everything on and prepare for the freezing temperatures of the Arctic.
Once you're all geared up, it's time to go! You'll start hiking over the snow and into the forest, always searching for a good vantage point to observe the sky and the Northern Lights. As you walk, your instructor will regale you with useful, interesting facts about the region, its landscapes, the wildlife that tends to live in the Arctic forest, and the Aurora Borealis. You should keep in mind that the Northern Lights are a natural and completely unpredictable phenomenon; your instructor can't guarantee that you will see them, though they will try their best to take you to the places where they are usually visible. When you find a good spot to stop, you'll sit on comfortable reindeer skins as your instructor teaches you how to build a fire in the snow, and then prepares tea or coffee for you to drink while they cook your dinner over the open fire. You'll enjoy the taste of Swedish Lapland as you look at the sky and search for the dancing lights that will put on a show for you.
Please take into account that you will spend around 3 hours out in the Arctic cold, so you should bring very warm layers to wear under the suit your instructor will lend you, including wool or thermal underwear, extra layers on top, and even a wind and waterproof jacket that you can wear under the suit if it's really cold outside. You should also bring a hat, scarf, gloves, snacks, and anything else you might need (medicine, glasses, etc.) to spend an amazing moment on this Northern Lights snowshoeing excursion with dinner in Brändön!
Don't miss out on an authentic Arctic experience that will immerse you in the Swedish Lapland landscapes and even have you try the local gastronomy out in the wild. Book your Northern Lights snowshoeing excursion with dinner in Brändön, near Luleå, today!
