Practical information
Arm yourself with a headlamp, hiking poles, and your willpower to participate in this incredible 10 to 12-hour night hiking excursion up Mount Pico, in Ilha de Pico!
- 1 am - Arrival at the meeting point and introduction to your instructor
- Equipment distribution
- Safety and activity briefing
- Start of the 10 to 12-hour hike up Mount Pico
- At sunset time, reach the summit
- After a break, spend the rest of the morning hiking down the mountain
- 11 am - Return to the meeting point
- Equipment return and end of activity
This is a moderate/high-level activity, and being in good physical condition is required to participate. Experience in trails with an accentuated slope is recommended. For adults over 65 years old and who are not used to practicing physical activities, Tripix Azores reserves the right to request a physical exam and respective medical certificate to guarantee the health conditions to perform the mountaineering activity.
All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
You cannot participate in this activity if you have gone diving less than 24 hours before it starts.
The permits to Mount Pico get sold out very fast in the high season (end of May to mid September). An early booking is advised to better guarantee availability from the provider.
This activity is not recommended for pregnant or disabled people.
Please note that the duration and itinerary of the activity are weather-dependent.
Pets are not permitted to join in this activity.
In case you have a drone, you must register at the ANAC website (Portuguese Civil Aviation Authority) and inform your instructor that you'll be bringing it.
There will be a fee of 10€/each for damaged hiking poles.
