What are the activities to do in Briançon?
Briançon is a commune in the Hautes-Alpes department that sits at an altitude of 1,326 metres, making it the highest city in France.
Briançon is a popular destination for many extreme sports fans, notably due to its ski resort. It contains the lowest altitude station in the whole of the Serre Chevalier resort.
However, winter sports are just one aspect of the commune, there are many other activities for the adrenaline junkies out there. For example, white water fans can go kayaking in the Durance River. If keeping your feet firmly on the ground is you thing, you can try the indoor skate park with all its different features. There’s also an exceptional climbing wall of 408m² for those of you who like a different vantage point.
As Briancon has regularly hosted stages of Tour de France, it now attracts cyclists from all over the world. You can even cross the Hautes Alpes on mountain bike using groomed trails. The route starts at La Grave and ends at Pays du Buëch, and the best season for this is from the 1st June to 15th October.
