If you’ve ever wondered how sled dogs stay active when there’s no snow in Québec, this experience is sure to spark your interest. The team at Aventures Liguoriennes invites you to their kennel to show you how their pack trains outside of winter, and to take you along for one of those training sessions with a cani-kart ride in Saint-Liguori!
You’ll spend about 1.5 hours with the sled dogs and a passionate guide who’ll share insights into the dogs’ off-season routines.
Your adventure begins at the kennel, where you’ll meet the dogs and chat with your guide before heading out to discover the cani-kart, a wheeled version of dog sledding that lets you enjoy the thrill of the ride even without snow.
After harnessing a team of around 8 dogs, you’ll hop into the cani-kart for a ride through the organic farmland of Saint-Liguori. Each kart is equipped with seatbelts and top-notch suspension, offering a smoother ride than traditional sleds. If needed, you can hold the central handle or simply grip the sides of the kart, whichever feels more comfortable. Seated two per kart and led by your guide, you’ll enjoy a 30-minute ride through nature at speeds of 16 to 20 km/h, with regular breaks to hydrate the dogs.
The route winds through mixed forests and wide pastures, where you might spot grazing cattle against the backdrop of Québec’s mountains. With 600 acres of organic crops, the farm offers a truly authentic setting and stunning views, perfect for memorable photos.
Once the ride is over, you’ll return to the kennel for a special moment with the dogs: cuddles, photos, and well-deserved praise for their hard work.
To round off the experience, you’ll be welcomed into a cozy space with restrooms available. Free parking is also provided. Located just about an hour from Montréal, this outing offers a refreshing escape into nature that’s still easy to reach.
Led by experienced head guides certified in first aid and AEQ’s “Guide d’attelage canin” program, this activity is open to anyone aged 8 and up who can handle a few bumps, similar to a mountain bike ride.
Whether you’re an animal lover, curious about sled dog training, or simply looking for a unique adventure near Montréal, cani-karting in Saint-Liguori promises a warm, unforgettable experience!
