Why not experience a nice hike in nature as you discover pathways that date back to late Medieval times! The Stone Crosses route is something you can't miss in Cavtat.
The Stone Crosses hiking excursion offered by TM Adventure will part from the traditional Mediterranean town of Cavtat. As you enjoy hiking in the area, you'll pass by the Church of St. Đurđa (George) which dates back to the 15th century!
This church will mark the starting point for a gentle uphill walk to the charming small village of Močići where Mithraeum, the ancient sanctuary of the god Mithras is located. This sanctuary was part of a cult that spread all around the region from the 2nd to the 6th century.
The highlights of this route are, without a doubt, the many stone crosses that can be seen along the way. The crosses had a special meaning in the past during the procession and the ceremony in which the fields were blessed. Also, this area has various endemic plants, as well as wild aromatic herbs that perfume the way.
After a short break, you will continue to the picturesque town of Čilipi, the biggest settlement in Konavle. There, you'll get to experience the traditions of this region of Croatia. Among the landmarks, the parish church of St. Nicholas, and a square surrounded by governmental and family stone houses stand out.
