Explore the historical island of Seurasaar in Helsinki on an enjoyable sea kayaking trip from Lapinlahti Beach. Welcoming adventurers from ages 16 and up!

Helsinki is the capital city of Finland, located on the southern side of the country beside the Gulf of Finland. On this trip, you’ll begin at Lapinlahti, a charming neighbourhood in Helsinki with a mix of historical sites, green areas, and residential developments. Lapinlahti Beach offers visitors a picturesque spot to enjoy the waterfront and relax during the warmer months.

The excursion begins at the starting point in Lapinlahti, where you’ll meet the experienced instructor. They will go through a safety briefing and you’ll receive the equipment (kayak, paddle, paddling vest and dry bag). Kayaking experience is not required for this tour, but it is recommended that you have tried kayaking before. Before paddling, you’ll briefly familiarise yourself with the paddling equipment and go through paddling technique and safety.

Then, the adventure begins! Following the guide, you’ll set off paddling from Lapinlahti Beach along Helsinki’s coastline. You’ll kayak around Seurasaari, an island located a few kilometres northwest of the city centre. The island boasts lush greenery and a stunning coastline. Seurasaari is most well-known for its outdoor museum, Seurasaari Open-Air Museum, which showcases traditional Finnish architecture and way of life. The guide will share insights about the historical significance of the island.

You’ll take a break at the nearby island of Pukkisaari, situated in the archipelago of the Gulf of Finland. Pukkisaari is known for its natural beauty, with rocky shores, forested areas, and scenic views of the surrounding sea. Here, you’ll walk along the pine trees to the historic Seurasaari Bridge. On the island, you’ll enjoy some coffee and light snacks while taking in the peaceful atmosphere. There is a lot of birdlife present in front of Seurasaari, and you may see whooper swans, grey herons, geese, ducks, terns and sometimes even a sea eagle. After admiring the view, you’ll paddle back to the starting point in Lapinlahti.

Embark on an exciting sea kayaking trip from Lapinlahti Beach in Helsinki and visit the beautiful islands of Seurasaari and Pukkisaari in the Gulf of Finland!
