About the activity

Embark on a wonderful dual adventure into the stunning landscapes of Finnish Lapland with this amazing ice climbing and snowshoeing excursion from Pyhä-Luosto! Right next to Pyhä-Luosto national park, Pyhä Fell is one of the city's main attractions. With stunning views of the area's fell range and the stunning natural park that attracts nature and sports enthusiasts from all over the world, this place is perfect for taking a snowshoeing excursion. And let's not forget Tajukangas Ice Fall, a 20-metre wonder, perfect for trying ice climbing and observing the frozen landscapes of Finnish Lapland.

On the day of your ice climbing and snowshoeing excursion from Pyhä-Luosto, your instructor offers to pick you up in certain spots around Pyhä and Luosto (please check special terms and clarify when booking). You can also arrive at the Bliss Adventures headquarters in eastern Pyhä. There, you'll meet your expert Bliss Adventure instructor, who will welcome you warmly and distribute the snowshoes and poles, as well as teach you exactly how to use them, so you have a smooth and fun excursion.

Once you're ready, it's time to go! You'll head to the PyhäExpress chairlift, and, weather permitting, ride it for approximately 4 minutes up 278 metres of the beautiful Pyhä Fell. You'll enter a quiet, snowy, magical world and, with your instructor by your side, you will explore it until you reach the top of the fell, which is approximately 500 metres high. You'll observe incredible, panoramic views of Pyhä-Luosto National Park and have time to take amazing photos before returning to Pyhä for a 2-hour lunch break (lunch is not included in the price of the activity).

Your instructor will give you a time and place to return to, and once it's time, you'll meet them again to start the second part of this wonderful adventure. You will hike for a few minutes toward Tajukangas Ice Fall, and be outfitted with a harness, crampons, a helmet with visor or goggles, ice axes, and climbing or ski boots to prepare for the experience. Your instructor will show you exactly how ice climbing works, and make sure that their safety ropes are working perfectly before it's your turn. Next, it's time to climb! With your expert instructor's directions, you'll reach as high as you can on the Tajukangas Ice Fall, an unmissable experience in Pyhä.

Keep in mind that the weather in Finnish Lapland is Arctic, so temperatures can range between 5 and -30 degrees Celsius. This means that, even though your instructor will lend you high-quality winter gear, you should come prepared with a first layer of wool or thermal clothing, then a middle layer of fleece or more wool, and an outer layer with a windproof and waterproof jacket and pants. You should also bring your own hat (that can fit under the bike helmet), gloves, scarf, and anything else you might need (medication, water, snacks, etc.) to have an amazing time on this 5.5-hour ice climbing and snowshoeing excursion from Pyhä-Luosto.

If you are a nature enthusiast and would like to try a fun, adjustable, and sporty adventure in the stunning landscapes of Finnish Lapland, this ice climbing and snowshoeing excursion from Pyhä-Luosto is perfect for you. Book today!
