Embark on a wonderful adventure that will take you deep into the snowy landscapes of Finnish Lapland with this Northern Lights snowmobile excursion from Rovaniemi! The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon that occurs thanks to the interaction between the Earth's atmosphere and particles from the sun. This phenomenon is only visible in what is called the "Northern Lights Oval", which is right inside the Arctic Circle. Rovaniemi, located in Finnish Lapland, the northernmost region in Finland, is one of the best places in the world to observe this magical phenomenon, since the city is surrounded by Arctic wilderness, where light pollution is at its lowest, and this allows the colourful lights to be more visible.
On the day of your snowmobile excursion from Rovaniemi, you'll have the opportunity to be picked up by your instructor within a 10-kilometre radius of Rovaniemi's city centre. You can also arrive by yourself at the StayLapland headquarters. There, you'll meet your expert instructor, who will distribute the thermal overalls, snow boots, beanies, mittens and other winter apparel necessary to stay safe during the experience. You'll then be transported to the starting point of the adventure.
The instructor will distribute the snowmobiles and teach you how to drive or ride them, clarifying safety protocols to follow in order to have a great time. Next, it's time to start! You'll dive into the dark, snowy Arctic night and explore Kuoksa Wilderness Park as you head toward a hut in the wilderness. You'll search the sky for the Northern Lights, and if they appear, you will be able to stop and take wonderful pictures. Midway through the experience, you'll stop to rest and roast delicious local snacks on a campfire, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, and keeping your eyes trained on the sky to catch the colourful dancing lights.
Keep in mind that the temperatures in the Arctic can go from 5 to -30 degrees Celsius, so bringing very small children on this activity might not be the best idea. Additionally, all snowmobile drivers must be over 18 years old and have a valid driver's license. With that in mind, you should come prepared with thermal or wool underlayers, as well as extra warm layers to wear under the suit, and your driver's license, as well as anything else you may need (medication, extra snacks, sunglasses, etc.) to spend a safe and fun 3 hours on this snowmobile excursion from Rovaniemi!
Experience one of the most wonderful and unique phenomena in the world and enjoy a high-speed adventure in the stunning landscapes of Finnish Lapland. Book your Northern Lights snowmobile excursion from Rovaniemi!
