Course of events
You should plan to spend around 2.5 hours on this activity:
- 16:30 - Arrival at the meeting point in the Vuokatti Safaris headquarters
- Equipment distribution and snowmobiling instruction
- 17:00 - Introduction to your instructor
- Safety and activity briefing
- Start your 2-hour (approximately 20-kilometer) snowmobile expedition from Vuokatti
- Take breaks to observe the Northern Lights if they appear
- Stop to take a break and enjoy hot drinks and snacks on the way back
- Return to the meeting point
- 19:00 - Equipment return and end of the activity
Activity requirements
Please arrive at the meeting point at least 30 minutes before your departure time.
All minors must be accompanied by an adult, and there must be one adult driver per child passenger.
Snowmobile drivers must be over 18 years old and hold a valid driver's license. If this is not the case for an adult participant, they can ride as a passenger with another adult who complies with these conditions.
To ride a snowmobile, you must be at least 140cm. If not, you will have to ride in a sleigh pulled by the instructor's snowmobile.
Special terms
The price of the activity is per snowmobile, not per person. A snowmobile can carry up to 2 people (Driver + Passenger). To book, follow these guidelines:
- 2 participating adults: Book ONE "2 adults on one snowmobile" ticket.
- 1 child and 1 adult participants: Book ONE "1 adult and 1 child on one snowmobile" ticket.
- 1 adult driver (must comply with the conditions above): ONE "1 adult on one snowmobile (single driving)" ticket.
Please note that the times given on the itinerary are for the set departures. However, if the instructor receives too many requests for a specific day, they will open more time slots, which you will be able to choose from when booking. Keep in mind that the activity will last the same amount of time, but the starting and ending hours can change.
Since the Northern Lights are an unpredictable natural phenomenon, their presence is never guaranteed.
This activity is not recommended for pregnant or disabled people.
Please note that the duration and itinerary of the activity depend on weather conditions. If the cancellation is due to weather conditions, the instructor will try to reschedule the activity. If this is not possible, a full refund will be given.

Located in the region of Lakeland, Vuokatti is known for being a modern, lively ski resort set in a historic and incredible natural area that welcomes visitors from all over the world.
On the day of your Northern Lights snowmobile excursion from Vuokatti, you'll need to arrive at the meeting point in the Vuokatti Safaris headquarters at least 30 minutes before your departure time. There, you'll meet your expert instructor, who will distribute thermal suits, boots, gloves, balaclavas, helmets, and snowmobiles to all participants, and give you a quick but thorough instruction on how to drive a snowmobile to stay safe and have lots of fun!
Once you're all geared up, it's time to go! You'll drive around the Finnish wilderness for around 20 kilometers (12.5 miles), and take regular breaks to observe the sky and hopefully observe the Northern Lights. Keep in mind that, to drive a snowmobile, you must be 18 years old and have a valid driver's license. Also, the Northern Lights are a natural and unpredictable phenomenon, which means that your instructor can't guarantee a sighting. However, they will try their best to take you to the best places to spot them, and to finish the experience, you'll sit with a hot drink and sweet snacks to debrief with them, even if you don't find the Aurora.
Remember to bring warm winter clothing to the experience, especially warm underlayers to wear under the thermal suit that is included in your experience, but also a hat, gloves, snow boots, and anything else you might need (medicine, extra snacks, etc.) to spend around 2 hours on this wonderful Northern Lights snowmobile excursion from Vuokatti!
