Embark on a wonderful adventure that will take you into the Finnish Lapland wilderness and, hopefully, to observe one of the Earth's most mystical and beautiful phenomena on this Northern Lights photography tour from Ylläs! The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon that occurs thanks to the interaction between the Earth's atmosphere and the sun's particles, which results in colorful, slightly undulating lights projected in the night sky. However, observing this phenomenon is not that easy. First, it is only available between the months of September and April; second, you need an environment with very little light pollution to observe them, and third, you will only be able to see it in the "Aurora Oval", which is a demarcation near or around the Arctic circle where the lights are usually visible. Finnish Lapland is within that oval, and its large expanses of wild nature make it the perfect place to observe this magical phenomenon.
On the day of your Northern Lights photography tour from Ylläs, you'll have the option to be picked up within a 10 km radius from Ylläsrinne before the experience starts. You'll head to the Safartica headquarters in the city to meet your expert instructor, who will give you a thorough safety briefing and distribute the high-quality equipment you'll use throughout the night, which will include a thermall suit, snow boots, gloves, a scarf, woollen socks, and a beanie. You'll have some time to gear up and once you're ready, it's time to go!
You'll drive around a total of 200 kilometers, and dive into the wilderness of Finnish Lapland in search of the Northern Lights with your expert instructor at the head of the excursion. Your instructor is experienced at finding the Northern Lights, and they know the places where they usually make their appearance, however, since the Aurora is a natural phenomenon, they can't guarantee sightings because they can't control when the lights appear. If and when you find the beautiful Northern Lights, you'll descend the bus and your instructor will take amazing photos of you and your loves ones, as well as give you excellent tips for night photography. And during the experience, you'll also get to have a delicious snack with gingerbread cookies and hot drinks to keep your strength up!
Keep in mind that, though your instructor will lend you good quality winter equipment, you should also come prepared with thermal layers and even a good wind and waterproof jacket to wear under the suit if it's very cold outside. You should also bring a hat, a scarf, warm winter shoes, a hat, and anything else you might need (medication, extra snacks) to spend 4 hours on this amazing Northern Lights photography excursion from Ylläs!
Don't miss out on an unforgettable experience in the breathtaking landscapes of Finnish Lapland, with an expert who will lead you and take great photos to take with you. Book your Northern Lights photography experience from Ylläs today!
