About the activity

French Polynesia not only boasts heavenly beaches on the shores of turquoise lagoons, but also a tropical jungle well worth discovering. And there is nothing better than a canyoning trip in Moorea, starting from Afareaitu in the south-east of the island for beginners, or from Paopao in the south of Cook Bay for adventurers who have already done some canyoning!

Working alongside a local canyoning instructor, and equipped with all the necessary gear (helmet, wetsuit, harness and gloves), your canyoning experience in Moorea will take you into the heart of the rainforest, on a course adapted to your level:

  • Discovery Course - consisting of abseils, small jumps of no more than 2 metres, all of which can be bypassed, swimming sessions in pools and a natural slide, this outing is suitable for beginners and ends with a pleasant break over a Polynesian snack in front of the Vaioro waterfall;
  • Adventure Course - consisting of 6 abseiling descents, 2 of them over 30-metre-high waterfalls, a guided zip line and a pendulum jump, this course is aimed at people with at least 1 previous canyoning experience, as it presents more impressive obstacles than the discovery course.

The activity was a blast. It was beautiful being next to the waterfalls and rappelling.

The activity was awesome. It was something that anyone with basic fitness can enjoy. You are required to hike a little (20 minutes or so) and climb over some areas (nothing too challenging), but kids to adults are all capable. You don’t need any experience. Terii gives a demonstration before the first rappel so that everyone feels comfortable and he runs a safety line on everyone during the rappels, so you can’t fall. I would recommend wearing clothes that you don’t mind getting wet, because you will get wet. I only brought my phone (waterproof iPhone 16) with me.
