Practical information
An exploration dive in Moorea in the ocean lasting 35 to 55 minutes, depending on your consumption.
- More than a dozen dive sites with a wealth of underwater flora and fauna: tropical fish, stingrays and leopard rays, green and hawksbill turtles, blacktip and whitetip sharks, etc.
- Maximum of 5 divers per dive master
- Staggered departure times, earlier than other centres, to get to the dive sites first
Course of events
Please allow around 2 hours for the whole experience.
- Reception at the diving centre on Tipaniers Beach (free parking on the mountain side, toilets in the hotel, lockers to leave your personal belongings for the duration of the activity in the premises)
- Completing a health questionnaire
- Wetsuit equipment
- Briefing on the activity and safety instructions
- Board the boat and sail to the dive site selected according to your level and the day's weather conditions (between 10 and 15 minutes)
- Finalising your equipment and getting into the water with your dive master
- Immersion for 35 to 55 minutes of exploration diving (duration varies according to your consumption and sea conditions)
- Back on board the boat, de-equipping and navigation back to the centre (between 10 and 15 minutes)
- Disembarkation, return of wetsuits, stamping of your logbook, and end of the activity, with the possibility of using the centre's outdoor shower
Activity requirements
A minimum of Scuba Diver or PE12 certification is required to take part in this activity.
Written parental authorisation is required for minors to participate in this activity.
You must not have any medical contraindications to take part in this activity (asthma, heart problems, etc.).
Special terms
Once your booking has been confirmed, please contact the Scubapiti team directly to let them know the name of your certification level, the date of your last dive and the approximate number of dives you have made in total.
This activity is not accessible to pregnant people or people with reduced mobility.
All participants must complete a health questionnaire on-site.
Pets are not permitted to join in this activity.
Accompanying persons who are not participating in the exploration dive are not permitted on board the boat: they may remain on the beach at the Hôtel les Tipaniers for the duration of the activity.

Only available to divers holding at least a Scuba Diver or PE12 certification, this exploration dive in Moorea takes you along the outer side of the coral reef, facing the open ocean, where you will discover the incredible richness of the South Pacific. In small groups of up to 5 certified divers per dive master, you will enjoy a 35- to 55-minute dive in areas offering the best chance to encounter a wide variety of marine life. Among countless tropical fish typical of Polynesian waters, you may also spot several species of rays, green and hawksbill turtles, as well as reef and lemon sharks, for an unforgettable experience that will leave you in awe after your exploration dive in Moorea!
You will head out to one of the many dive sites regularly visited by the Scubapiti team, made up of experienced local divers who know Moorea’s waters inside out:
- Papetoai (all levels) - diving site in the lagoon, 3 to 18 metres deep, a veritable fish aquarium, with the chance to see turtles or leopard rays if you are lucky.
- Mamaru / Eden Park / Lemon Sharks Valley (min. Open Water / Level 1) - ocean side dive from 15 to 30 metres deep, on a gently sloping reef with different varieties of tropical fish, turtles and regularly lemon sharks (morning)
- Ōpūnohu Canyon / Anemone / Coral Wall (min. Open Water / Level 1) - ocean side dive from 15 to 30 metres deep, on a gently sloping reef with different varieties of tropical fish, but above all lots of turtles.
- Taotoi (min. Open Water / Level 1) - ocean side dive from 15 to 30 metres deep, on a gently sloping reef with small caves sheltering fish and sometimes turtles. If conditions allow, the dive can continue to a sandbank with thousands of garden eels.
- Tiki (min. Open Water / Level 1) - ocean side dive from 15 to 30 metres deep, with the possibility of seeing blacktip reef sharks and different varieties of tropical fish.
The team will provide all the necessary Scubapro diving equipment and take you to your chosen site aboard one of their 3 boats (1 Zodiac and 2 aluminium boats). Each vessel is fitted with a sunshade and at least one boarding ladder, ensuring a comfortable experience during your ocean exploration dive in Moorea.
