About the activity

From late July to early November, humpback whales migrate to the warm waters of French Polynesia to mate and give birth. It is during this period that you can observe them on dedicated outings led by professionals, and even enter the water near them for an unforgettable experience. To make this possible, the Scubapiti team invites you on a 3- to 4-hour excursion in search of whales around Moorea, with the chance to swim alongside these majestic creatures if their behaviour and sea conditions allow. Ready to marvel at these giants of the ocean thriving in their natural environment, all while ensuring a respectful and non-intrusive approach?

You will set out in search of whales around Moorea aboard an aluminium boat equipped with a sunshade, comfortable seating, and 2 ladders at the rear platform for safe entry into the water. You will be guided by an experienced instructor who will explain both the rules for responsible whale watching and fascinating facts about these magnificent animals – their behaviour, diet, and more. Only a small group of up to 6 participants will be allowed in the water if conditions permit, ensuring the whales remain undisturbed. Beforehand, your instructor will brief you on the approach rules to follow (safe distances, quiet movements, etc.), after which you will have the chance to enjoy a magical moment out in the open ocean, close to some of the most impressive marine mammals on Earth!

The driver and guide were terrific - that did everything possible to track down the location of the wales. We ended up seeing a shark, small whales, and two large humpbacks. Didn’t end up being able to swim near them as they migrated away when our group was swimming towards - but no fault of the guide.

Es war unglaublich toll. Obwohl der großteil der Gruppe französisch Sprachig war, wurde sich die Zeit genommen auch alles auf englisch zu erklären (wie gebucht). Wir haben Wale gespottet und sind alles mit viel Respekt für die Tiere angegangen. Wir waren 6 Personen die ins Wasser gegangen sind und ein paar Leute die vom Boot zugeguckt haben. So konnten die Schimmenden-Personen jedes Mal ins Wasser, das war ziemlich gut.
