About the activity

Reach a 360-degree viewpoint on top of Rhodes and observe the island's landscapes, the Dodecanese Islands, including Halki Alimia, Tilos, and Karpathos, and the Turkish coast on this incredible hike up Akramitis Mountain from Monolithos! Monolithos is located on the western side of Rhodes, and it's known for being a typical Greek village with ocean views, blue and white houses, and lively tavernas. The town stands at the foot of Rhodes' second-highest mountain, Akramitis, which stands 825 meters tall, and is a Natura 2000 protected area with incredible forests, meadows, and rocky peaks.

On the day of your hike up Akramitis Mountain, you'll have two options to reach the meeting point; you can either get there yourself or choose the option with transportation, be picked up at your accommodations, and be driven there. Once you arrive at Monolithos, you'll meet the expert guide who will accompany and guide you throughout the experience, and who will explain a few safety measures for you to follow, as well as the itinerary for the day. And when everyone is ready, you'll set off!

Your sunset hike up Akramitis Mountain from Monolithos will be divided into sections. On a gradually ascending trail, you'll hike for around 2 hours through increasingly difficult, rocky terrain until you reach the tiny old St. John's chapel. You'll make a short stop to enjoy a delicious, traditional Rhodes snack before continuing toward the most difficult section of the hike as you climb to the top of Akramitis. You'll be able to enjoy a 360-degree view of the island and the surrounding territories, as well as the stunning Aegean Sea, for a while, before returning to the meeting point through a different path so you can get a full experience of the mountain.

This hike is challenging, and it requires good physical condition to complete. You should also be prepared with hiking shoes, long hiking trousers, a water bottle, an extra t-shirt, sunscreen, a hat, and anything else you may need (medication, extra snacks, etc.) to spend an amazing 4 to 5 hours on this hike up Akramitis Mountain from Monolithos in Rhodes!
