Sakalava Bay covers an area of about 2.2 km² and is protected by a 2 km long coral reef. Sakalava is a safe and gently sloping spot for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Wind level: starboard side and side-on oriented so that it will always bring you back to the beach. Freeride is practised a lot. For the more experienced, you can make jumps there without any problem and surf reef waves which are easily accessible.

Another special feature of Sakalava Bay is the Varatraza. Boosted by the cape effect and the mountainous relief, the Varatraza blows regularly from April to November with peaks from June to October. The average air temperature varies between 24 and 32° C while the average water temperature varies between 25 and 27° C.
