From north to south, the west coast of Martinique is home to exceptional and varied dive sites (wrecks, plateaus, canyons, etc.), rich in both marine fauna and flora (reef fish, barracudas, moray eels, turtles, lobsters, corals, sponges, etc.). So, if you hold a diving certification, at least Open Water or Level 1, make sure you don't miss the opportunity to discover them by taking part in an exploration dive from Les Trois-Îlets with Espace Plongée Martinique! You will dive in a group of no more than 4 divers, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience, guided by an experienced and passionate dive master. All equipment from the AQUALUNG brand will be provided (except dive computer and torch).
For this adventure, you will board one of the centre’s 2 boats (a catamaran and a monohull), both perfectly designed for exploration dives, featuring an aft platform for easy water entry, a bimini for shade, a freshwater shower to rinse your gear, and more. Depending on your preference, the boat will take you for one dive or several, heading to the site or sites you would like to explore, provided that your level allows it and that the weather conditions are suitable. Among the possible dive sites, you may discover:
Open Water / Level 1 / PE20 minimum
- Faille de l’Anse Noire – down to 20 metres, along a drop-off between Anse Noire and Anse Dufour
- Pointe de la Baleine – down to 25 metres, offering excellent visibility up to 25 metres, with clusters of coral formations accompanied by gorgonians, sponges, and more
- Diamond Rock – from 18 metres to 60 metres deep, with beautiful coral terraces and impressive faults down to 18 metres, followed by a stunning deeper drop-off for more advanced divers
- Cap Enragé – down to 25 metres, featuring small canyons where you may encounter stonefish, moray eels, angelfish, shells, and turtles
Level 2 / PE40 minimum
- The Nahoon Wreck – down to 36 metres, the wreck of a 35-metre, three-masted ship sunk in 1994, where you may observe barracudas, angelfish, crabs, Javanese moray eels, lobsters, and more
With ideal conditions (average water temperature of 28°C year-round, visibility up to 40 metres horizontally, calm seas, etc.), the dive sites along the west coast of Martinique promise an unforgettable exploration diving experience. So don’t miss out and join Espace Plongée Martinique at Pointe du Bout in Les Trois-Îlets!
