Embark on adventurous whale watching safari in Tromsø and Northern Norway! Take-in the Arctic scenery while observing the world's biggest mammals - up close!

Embark on adventurous whale watching safari in Tromsø and Northern Norway. Take-in the Arctic scenery while observing the world's biggest mammals!

Immerse yourself in the Arctic wildlife and the Norwegian fjords, and learn all about the local marine life of the region. From mid-October to late January, the Norwegian fjords around Tromsø welcome some very special guests: the whales! The world’s biggest mammals that visit to feed on the Atlantic herring throughout the dark winter months.

The most common whale species you'll be able to see are the humpback whale, orca, harbor porpoise and sometimes even the fin whales. The islands and waters of the Norwegian fjords are also home to sea eagles, seals, and many different bird species!

Your adventure begins at the Harbour in Tromsø's city center where you will meet your guides and follow a safety briefing before boarding the boat. You will also have a small presentation about the whales, and learn some insights about the local history, nature and Nordic culture.

Equipped with panoramic windows and outdoor decks, this cruise safari promises some astonishing views of the Norwegian coast! Your Captain will follow the best routes to optimize your chances of seeing the whales, and take you on a ride between the islands and the fjords, overlooking the Arctic mountains along the way!

The journey can take up to three hours, depending on the weather conditions and on the last spot that the whales have been spotted. Once you've made your way to the whale feeding site, the ship will anchor for approximately an hour and a half, so you can observe these magnificent species in their natural habitat. You will drift along with the whales, gently following their path while making them aware of your presence in their natural environment.

After you've observed the whales, it is time to head back to the Harbour in Tromsø. Marvel at the surrounding landscapes of the snowy mountains and the mesmerizing fjords, accompanied by the local Nordic wildlife!

This is a fantastic experience for wildlife and photography enthusiasts. Book your whale watching safari in Tromsø and immerse yourself in the Arctic marine life, observing the world's biggest mammals!

It was a great experience overall! The captain did an excellent job keeping the boat safe during the snowstorms, especially with the rough seas. We managed to observe orcas until bad weather came. Also, the onboard presentations were incredibly informative. The crew shared a wealth of knowledge, making the trip enjoyable and educational. A small suggestion for the future: When the upper and front decks are closed due to bad weather (that is completely understandable), it would be helpful if passengers are reminded that others are behind them, so they can be more mindful of people trying to see whales too.
