Its pristine setting near the Arctic Circle makes it one of the world’s best spots to marvel at the mesmerizing Northern Lights around Tromsø.

Your visit to the Kvaløya Husky Kennel begins in Tromsø, where your knowledgeable guide will pick you up for a scenic 25-minute drive to the beautiful island of Kvaløya. At the husky kennel, you’ll be welcomed by a lively pack of around 200 Alaskan Huskies — including adorable puppies! During your visit, you’ll step into the dog yard, meet the friendly huskies, and enjoy plenty of time to play, cuddle, and learn about this remarkable breed.

After meeting the dogs, you'll settle around an open campfire. While you wait for the Northern Lights to appear, a delicious meal will be served in a cosy Gamme-hut, consisting of Bacalao (a traditional Norwegian fish dish with Portuguese roots made from regional produce), a chocolate cake dessert, coffee and tea. Then, if you're lucky, the incredible Aurora Borealis will appear in the night sky above you! Take in the amazing dance of colours as you listen to stories and myths about this natural phenomenon. After this magical experience, the guide will drive you back to the starting point in Tromsø.

What an amazing time my huskies and I had. First….The huskies all looked happy, those that came out for a fuss were keen to get up close and personal for cuddles. It was well organised, staff were super friendly and you weren’t rushed in the fussing of the dogs. They gave an informative talk about the huskies, which was good. Then while fussing the huskies we were lucky enough to see the lights, which were just beautiful. I would advise wearing the suits provided to keep your clothes clean and dog smell free 😁. The chocolate cake was delicious. I didn’t have the soup though my husband said it was good. The veggie option could do with a rethink, while what was offered was ok (quinoa salad) a warming veg stew would have been better for the event. The staff were great fab time was sad to go.

It was a fantastic experience in multiple aspects! First, the dogs - there were so many huskies to pet and many of them were very interested in hanging out with the humans. We got to meet the pups and teenagers as well, who were very energetic. Second, the lights - while it is advertised as a "chance" of seeing the lights, the day we went was apparently one of the best days for the northern lights and we had some incredible lights! They were the second best we had seen during the trip and it was an amazing experience watching them and the stars, with the dogs howling in the background. Lastly, the food - it was quite the hearty meal in their very cozy cabin. There was an indoor fire going on and the soup served with bread was delicious, not to forget the fantastic chocolate cake.

Absolutely amazing experience first got to meet the younger pups then went to meet the other huskies and got one on one time with them then we were lucky enough to see the northern lights whilst the huskies decided to all howl. It was a surreal moment and one I will never forget
