Take a guided hike through the Bélouve forest and discover one of the highest waterfall on the planet in a unique botanical heritage!

Discover a magical tropical forest that will plunge you into an unreal atmosphere! Easy and accessible for children aged 8 and over, this hike into the heart of the tropical rainforest is guaranteed to give you a real break from the everyday hustle and bustle in Reunion Island's natural environment!

The Bélouve forest is located in the commune of Salazie, to the east of the charming village of Hell-Bourg. The forest is part of Reunion Island's National Park and is very well preserved, some of it even is a primary forest. It is renowned for its tamarinds and its exceptionally rich, surprising and varied flora. Geographically, the Bélouve forest is an ancient mountain cirque filled in by a flow from the Piton des Neiges. It stretches across a plateau at an altitude of 1,300 m, reached by a track from Plaine-des-Palmistes.

Before setting off on your hike in the Bélouve forest, you'll meet your guide at the Bélouve gîte car park at 7 a.m. for a briefing on your hike in the tropical rainforest and the day's conditions. Then you are off to hit the trails!

Accompanied by your local guide specialising in the Bélouve forest, you will be in safe hands to make the most of your hike in Reunion Island. The guided hike is a round trip of 8 km and takes around 5 h to complete. The route has no major difficulties, but there may be some wet patches and muddy stretches. During your hike, you will discover a paradise of wild orchids, tree ferns and birds endemic to Reunion Island's National Park. To finish on a high note, you will be able to admire an extraordinary sight: the Trou de Fer waterfall.

So don't wait any longer, book your hike in the Bélouve forest for a magical experience in Reunion Island's unspoilt natural environment!
