Go on a guided hike to the summit of Grand Bénare and climb this legendary mountain on Reunion Island!

Situated in the Hauts de l'Ouest, on the edge of the Cirque de Mafate, the Grand Bénare is an unforgettable panoramic and historical sight! The third highest peak on Reunion Island, the Grand Bénare rises to an altitude of 2,896 metres between the Mafate and Cilaos cirques. Facing it is Reunion Island's highest peak: the Piton des Neiges. From the hiking trails of the Grand Bénare, you can admire these not-to-be-missed sites from breathtaking vantage points.

Before setting off to climb the Grand Bénare, you will meet your guide at the viewpoint of Le Maïdo at 7 a.m. for a briefing on your hike to the Grand Bénare and the day's conditions. Then you're off to explore the mountain trails!

Accompanied by your local guide, for whom the ascent of the Grand Bénare holds no secrets, you will be in safe hands to make the most of your hike in Reunion Island. The ascent of the Grand Bénare is an 18 km loop that takes around 5 hours to complete. The hike, which is intermediate in level and accessible to children aged 8 and over, starts on a very pleasant track and continues along a stony path to the summit. A large part of the trail runs alongside the rampart, which is ideal for admiring the panoramic views over Marla, Trois Roches and the Kerval plateau. You will also be able to spot small plateaux on the sides of the cliffs called islets: Roche Plate, La Nouvelle, Marla. Finally, your guide will introduce you to the Glacière cavern, a major and renowned historical site on Reunion Island.

Once at the top of the Grand Bénare, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Piton des Neiges and the cirques of Mafate and Cilaos! As well as the spectacular views, you will be able to take advantage of your guide's advice and anecdotes to learn more about the history of the Marron kings who lived at the summit of the Grand Bénare.

So don't wait, climb the Grand Bénare with a professional guide and discover Reunion Island's third highest peak!
