Experience a full Arctic adventure from Kiruna, including a 1-hour snowmobile tour, igloo building, and an overnight stay in your self-made igloo! Spending so much time outdoors also gives you plenty of opportunities to admire the Northern Lights.
No previous snowmobile experience is required.

Course of events
DAY 1
- Arrive at the meeting point in Kiruna at least 30 minutes before departure
- Meet your experienced guide
- Transfer to the snowmobile garage
- Receive thermal overalls, winter boots, and a helmet
- Attend a safety and itinerary briefing
- Introduction to snowmobiling and driving techniques
- Begin your snowmobile excursion through Swedish Lapland (1–1.5 hours)
- Snowmobiling across a frozen river
- Lunch: salmon soup and sandwiches
- The adventure continues with an introduction to igloo building
- Build your own igloo (approximately 4 hours)
- Campfire dinner featuring potato gratin with moose meatballs and blueberry pie
- Spend a relaxing evening under the stars
- Cozy overnight stay in your igloo
DAY 2
- Pack your belongings
- Enjoy breakfast
- Return to the original departure point in Kiruna, expected around 10:00 AM
Activity requirements
Snowmobile drivers must be at least 18 years old and hold a full, valid driver's license. Please bring the original copy with you on the day of the activity.
Children under the age of 13 sit in a sled pulled by the guide. Children under the age of 5 require an adult to sit in the sled with them.
Please arrive at the meeting point in Kiruna at least 30 minutes before the start time.
Special terms
This excursion includes building your own igloo with the help of your instructor.
Since the Northern Lights are an unpredictable natural phenomenon, their presence is never guaranteed.
Each igloo accommodates up to two people and maintains an average temperature between 0°C and -5°C. Inside, you’ll find comfortable mattresses, and a sleeping bag designed for Arctic conditions will be provided.
The dining hall located near the igloo has dry toilets, electricity and is at room temprature the whole night. There are also water toilets and a shower around 400 metres away from the igloo.
Vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free options are available. If you have any dietary restrictions, please list them when booking.
Please note that the pricing is per person and is for 2 people who share a snowmobile with the option of taking turns driving.
If you need to store any personal belongings, you can safely leave them at the office before heading to the igloo camp.
The total duration of this experience is approximately 25 hours.
Also, tours that take place between December 24th and January 6th are priced at an additional 300 SEK/person.

The vibrant city of Kiruna is located in northern Sweden in Swedish Lapland. Kiruna is a culturally and economically dynamic town renowned for the vast wilderness that surrounds it. In addition, it is also celebrated for its boreal forests, impressive mountains and fells, crystal-clear lakes and rivers, along with its biodiversity. Since Kiruna is situated north of the Arctic Circle, it is a perfect place to observe the captivating colours of the Northern Lights! What better way to enjoy winter in Sweden than by embarking on a remarkable excursion, such as this overnight experience in a self-made igloo with snowmobiling from Kiruna?
The snowmobiling adventure in Kiruna begins at the meeting point, where you and your group, will be greeted by your friendly and seasoned instructor/guide. Next, you'll depart on the transfer outside of the city and into the wilderness. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the views along the way! Upon your arrival, you'll receive a thermal suit, winter boots, and a helmet along with a safety and itinerary briefing.
Once everyone has their winter gear on, you'll be provided with an introduction to snowmobiling and snowmobile driving techniques. Children under the age of 13 will be seated in a sled driven by the instructor and mini adventurers ages 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the sled. With helmets safely fastened, you'll set out into the Swedish Lapland's picturesque winter wonderland and will feel a thrill like none other as you navigate the snowy terrain, crossing a frozen river!
Returning to the campsite, you'll enjoy a well-deserved lunch break. Then, your guide will give an introduction to igloo building and you'll construct your evening's accommodations with packed snow! Proud of your accomplishment, you'll be treated to a delectable Nordic dinner in the evening. If luck is on your side, you may witness the vivid colours of the Northern Lights, don't forget your camera! After a phenomenal day, you'll settle into your igloo with a cosy thermal Arctic sleeping bag for the best night's sleep!
The following morning, the group will pack their belongings and eat breakfast before returning to the original meeting point in the city with lifelong memories of this overnight experience in a self-made igloo with snowmobiling from Kiruna!
