Nestled at the foot of the Pre-Pyrenees in northern Spain, Murillo de Gállego is a gateway to some of Aragon’s most striking natural wonders. This small village, set against the ochre cliffs of the Mallos de Riglos and overlooking the turquoise sweep of the Gállego River, offers an exceptional setting for via ferrata. Here, the landscape is alive with contrasts: the rugged silhouettes of limestone towers, the gentle rustle of poplar leaves, and the ever-present sound of water tumbling over ancient stones. The region’s outdoor culture is palpable, shaped by generations who have explored these mountains and valleys. For those seeking a blend of adventure and immersion in nature, Murillo de Gállego stands out as a premier destination for via ferrata, where each route reveals a new perspective on the wild beauty of Huesca province.

Practising via ferrata in Murillo de Gállego is a dynamic, sensory-rich experience. The routes wind along vertical rock faces, traverse airy ledges, and cross suspended bridges, all secured by a continuous steel cable. Climbers feel the cool touch of limestone beneath their hands, the warmth of the sun reflecting off the cliffs, and the fresh breeze rising from the river below. Typical itineraries range from short, accessible circuits to more demanding ascents that reward with panoramic views of the Pyrenean foothills and the distant peaks of Monte Perdido. The interplay of silence and excitement is ever-present: moments of quiet concentration as you clip into the next anchor, followed by the exhilaration of stepping out onto an exposed traverse. Each section offers a unique challenge, whether negotiating a vertical ladder or pausing to take in the scent of wild herbs carried on the wind.

Wonderful and breathtaking experience during the rafting: the landscape, the rapids, animal life in the river, birds of prey, etc… There was time for a swim.
