The coastline here is sculpted by time, with ochre cliffs plunging into clear Atlantic waters, and secret grottoes illuminated by shifting rays of sunlight. Lagos itself is a vibrant town, where the scent of salt and grilled fish drifts through cobbled streets, and the rhythm of the ocean sets the pace of daily life. For those drawn to the underwater world, this region offers a unique blend of natural beauty, marine diversity, and a welcoming outdoor spirit, making it an ideal destination for scuba diving adventures.

Diving in Lagos is a journey through contrasts and discovery. The underwater landscape is shaped by dramatic rock formations, hidden caves, and colourful reefs teeming with life. Popular dive sites stretch from the iconic arches of Ponta da Piedade to the submerged wrecks near Sagres, each offering its own atmosphere and challenges. Descending into these waters, divers are greeted by the gentle sway of kelp, the flicker of silver fish, and the cool embrace of the Atlantic. Visibility often reaches 15 to 20 metres, revealing intricate coral gardens and the occasional octopus or moray eel. Whether exploring shallow bays or venturing deeper along the rocky seabed, the experience balances moments of serene stillness with bursts of vibrant marine activity. Dive sessions typically last between 40 and 60 minutes, with options for both relaxed exploration and more technical routes.

A great (and eco-friendly!) way to see the cliffs and caves of the Algarve coast. Not to mention lots of fun and a bit of a workout :-D

Fun lesson, did a group warm and then the instructor goes over basics with the beginners before getting into the water. People in the class were at different levels so might be better if there’s a class for complete beginners and then another for people who have tried a few times before
