Íshestar is a company founded in 1982 in Hafnarfjörður, representing over 40 years of activity in Icelandic equestrian tourism. Located 20 minutes from Reykjavik, the centre provides riding experiences ranging from 1-hour sessions to full-day tours, as well as multi-day expeditions lasting 2 to 9 days for intermediate and experienced riders. You explore lava fields, mountains, and lakeside trails on sure-footed Icelandic horses. Facilities include a modern stable built in 2000, an indoor riding hall, an on-site café, and a boutique. Technical equipment is provided, including mandatory helmets, safety vests for children under 12, and optional winter overalls, rain gear, and rubber boots. The structure operates under a strict animal welfare policy in direct collaboration with the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority (MAST). Staff members undergo regular first aid training and provide a comprehensive safety briefing before every departure to ensure a secure environment for all levels.
