About the activity
At an altitude of 1,885 metres, Moraine Lake is one of the most magnificent glacial lakes in Banff National Park. Surrounded by the impressive Valley of the Ten Peaks and its peaks over 3,000 metres high, it has been inaccessible to private vehicles since 2023 and is now only accessible by public shuttle, and only during the day. As a result, there are a lot of daytime visitors, which can be a deterrent for some who would prefer to enjoy the area in peace. And there is no better way to do that than with a guided excursion to Moraine Lake at sunrise! Arriving early in the morning, 45 minutes before the first rays of sunshine, you will have the pleasure of discovering the site almost exclusively.
This guided excursion by minibus to admire the sunrise over Moraine Lake offers a memorable getaway in Banff National Park, what's more, with a transfer from your accommodation in Banff or Canmore. You will spend a total of 3 hours on site, with the programme including a short walk to Rockpiles viewpoint, where you will land to watch the sun rise over the Valley of the Ten Peaks, as well as free time to enjoy the site on your own, as you wish. You will be accompanied by a local guide who will share with you a wealth of information about the landscape, flora and fauna and the history of the Bow Valley, which you will follow along the Bow Valley Parkway, a superb scenic route.
With a small group of no more than 12 participants, this guided sunrise excursion to Moraine Lake will give you the opportunity to discover the lake in the most peaceful way possible. Whether you are travelling alone, as a couple, with family or friends, don't miss out on this memorable experience at one of Alberta's most visited natural sites!
