On the day of your ice fishing excursion and reindeer sleigh ride from Rovaniemi, you'll have the opportunity to be picked up by your instructor within a 10-kilometre radius of Rovaniemi's city centre. You can also arrive by yourself at the StayLapland headquarters. There, you'll meet your expert instructor, who will distribute the thermal overalls, snow boots, beanies, mittens and other winter apparel necessary to stay safe during the experience. You'll then be transported to the starting point of the adventure.
The adventure will start as you hop on a reindeer sleigh and embark on a short ride toward the fishing spot that your instructor has chosen for the day. Then, it's time to learn how to use the ice auger, fishing rod, line, and lure to catch some perch, pike or whitefish! You'll enjoy the peaceful Arctic atmosphere of Finnish Lapland and even get to enjoy some local snacks with hot drinks by a campfire to keep you warm. The experience will end with a return reindeer sleigh ride and a drop-off at your accommodations.
Keep in mind that the temperatures in the Arctic can go from 5 to -30 degrees Celsius, so bringing very small children on this activity might not be the best idea.
